USO Fort Campbell and APSU Bring the Hype to Military Kids with Mascot Salute Pep Rally!

On April 16th, the USO Fort Campbell team partnered with Austin Peay State University to bring unforgettable energy to Fort Campbell Mahaffey Middle School with a Mascot Salute Pep Rally—a celebration in honor of the Month of the Military Child.
A crowd of 378 middle schoolers packed the school gym, where they were joined by seven local mascots who brought the fun and excitement:
T-Rac – Tennessee Titans
Booster – Nashville Sounds
The Governor – APSU
The GEICO Gecko – Local GEICO Office
Pearl the Squirrel – Visit Oak Grove, KY
Andy the Armadillo – Texas Roadhouse
Stitches – Hoptown Hoppers
Adding to the star power, Coach Gibson, Head Coach of APSU Basketball, made a special guest appearance!
From a hilarious mascot dance-off (shoutout to The Gov for the big win!), to kid-friendly games like Pictionary, a hula hoop competition, basketball shootouts, and even some lively line dancing, the gym was bursting with laughter and spirit. Even the middle schoolers, known for their cool demeanor, couldn’t resist joining in the fun—and the teachers were just as amazed!
“We felt this event was a huge success and a fantastic way for our local community to come together and celebrate our military kids with a high-energy, heartfelt show of appreciation,” said Ann Jarvis, Executive Director of the USO Fort Campbell/Nashville.
This pep rally was more than just a fun event—it was a powerful reminder of the support and love that surrounds our military families.
